French artist JR unveils immersive "Pont Neuf Cavern" art installation on Paris’ bridge, June 6–28, 2026, closing it to traffic for a sensory, nature-inspired experience.
French artist JR is transforming Paris’ Pont Neuf bridge into a temporary immersive installation called Pont Neuf Cavern, running June 6 to 28, 2026.
The 120-meter-long, 17-meter-tall artwork uses pale golden fabric to create a cave-like tunnel covering the bridge’s stone arches, blocking daylight and offering a sensory experience enhanced by soundscapes and augmented reality via smartphones.
Designed for total immersion, the project aims to reconnect urban dwellers with nature and shared human experience, drawing inspiration from Christo and Jeanne-Claude while emphasizing digital-age reflection.
The bridge will close to traffic, with visitor access managed to ensure safety and quality.
