The Federal Capital Territory Administration has suspended collection of the N25,000 annual Drivers and Riders Permit Levy after dispatch riders protested multiple overlapping fees. The move, announced by Mandate Secretary Dr. Chinedum Elechi following a meeting with rider leaders on February 19, halts enforcement while stakeholders discuss reforms. Riders had complained of paying N13,000 yearly to three area councils and N300 per market entry, adding to the new permit fee. The suspension aims to address concerns over excessive and redundant charges, with further consultations planned.
