Costco is launching a new online ordering system for cakes and deli trays at select U.S. locations, including its Machesney Park, Illinois store, replacing a long-criticized paper-based process with a streamlined app experience.
The update allows customers to customize orders—such as cake shape and size—directly through the Costco app, improving convenience and aligning the company’s digital service with competitors like Sam’s Club.
Driven by customer feedback and led by CEO Ron Vachris, the rollout is gradual and not yet available at all 600+ U.S. locations, but the updated app is expected to be available nationwide by the end of 2026.
