Canada launches national men’s health survey to address preventable deaths and build a formal health strategy by 2026.
The Canadian government is launching a nationwide survey in early March, running through early June, to gather public input as part of its first formal effort to develop a national men’s health strategy.
Led by Health Minister Marjorie Michel and developed in collaboration with Movember Canada and University of British Columbia researchers, the initiative responds to a 2023 report showing 75,000 Canadian men died prematurely from preventable causes, often due to delayed care and systemic barriers in healthcare.
The strategy, expected by late 2026, aims to improve outcomes and could save $12.4 million annually while boosting productivity.
Canada would join a small group of nations, including the U.K., South Africa, Malaysia, and Brazil, with formal men’s health strategies.
