Bangladesh's president accuses former interim leader Muhammad Yunus of undermining his authority and violating constitution during 18-month interim rule.
Bangladesh's President Mohammed Shahabuddin has accused former interim leader Muhammad Yunus of violating constitutional duties, claiming he was excluded from key decisions, not informed of 14 to 15 foreign trips, and blocked from international travel during the interim government's 18-month tenure.
He alleged efforts to undermine his authority, including removing his images from embassies, dismantling his press office, and attempting to replace him unconstitutionally.
Shahabuddin described a violent protest attempt on October 22, 2024, which he said was quelled by military forces, and credited the armed forces and opposition leaders with preserving constitutional order.
Yunus has not publicly responded to the allegations.
