She sustained multiple broken bones and underwent emergency surgeries after her SUV was struck by a van that crossed the center line; the van driver, who borrowed the vehicle from an insured owner, died in the crash.
Hinan, seven months pregnant, delivered her daughter Verena via emergency cesarean section; Verena suffered a significant head injury and was transferred to St. Michael’s on Jan. 20 to be with her mother.
Both are recovering, with Hinan expected to stay at the hospital for two to six more weeks before rehabilitation.
