Himachal Pradesh police dismantled an interstate infant trafficking ring tied to a Punjab-based gang, arresting three individuals and rescuing a newborn.
The operation began after Rohit Rana reported being defrauded of ₹23,500 by Deepak Anand, who claimed to arrange an adoption.
Police traced Anand to Jalandhar, where he was arrested and remanded for questioning.
He confessed to facilitating illegal adoptions through a network that trafficked infants.
Two other women, one from Batala and another named Anita from Jalandhar, were also arrested.
The rescued infant was placed under the care of a Special Adoption Agency for legal protection.
Authorities continue investigating and seeking additional suspects.
