Ottawa’s Polar Plunge raised over $60K for Special Olympics Ontario at a new Hard Rock venue.
The Ottawa Police Service’s Polar Plunge, held for the first time at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, raised over $60,000 for Special Olympics Ontario, exceeding its $50,000 goal.
Around 235 participants, including police leaders, students, and community members, took part in the event, supported by a fundraising competition with the Hard Rock in London, Ont., sponsorships from Insomnia Cookies, and contributions from the Ottawa Senators Community Foundation.
The new venue provided better warming areas and logistics, helping draw a record turnout.
Mayor Mark Sutcliffe commended the Hard Rock’s community involvement, and organizers expressed hope to continue the partnership.
Funds will support Special Olympics athletes and families across Ontario.
