India and Brazil signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 22, 2026, to enhance cooperation in the postal sector during Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s state visit to India. The agreement, signed by India’s Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and Brazil’s Minister Frederico de Siqueira Filho, establishes a five-year framework for collaboration in digital transformation, e-commerce logistics, postal financial services, capacity building, and multilateral coordination, particularly within the Universal Postal Union. Both nations will exchange best practices, conduct joint workshops and training programs, and share expertise, with India offering insights from its large-scale postal reforms. The MoU aims to modernize postal networks, improve universal service delivery, promote financial inclusion, and support sustainable development through enhanced last-mile connectivity. It will be implemented in accordance with each country’s laws and includes automatic renewal for another five years.
