Five live 7.65mm ammunition cartridges were found in a student’s room at IIT Bombay on February 19 during a security check following a dispute and reports of alcohol use. The cartridges, traced to a 23-year-old man from Bihar who had visited campus earlier, were recovered after he was detained and confessed to purchasing them in Munger. Powai Police filed an FIR under the Arms Act, and the case is under investigation for possible illegal possession, transportation, and links to a broader arms network. The student who initially possessed the cartridges is not under arrest but remains under scrutiny.
