A fire destroyed the children’s ward at Assemblies of God Hospital in Saboba, Ghana, around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, killing no one but destroying beds, medical supplies, and equipment.
All six children and other patients were safely evacuated, with staff and community members helping to contain the blaze after the fire tender’s pump failed.
The Ghana National Fire Service is investigating the cause.
This follows a similar 2025 fire at a nearby school dormitory where a fire tender failure contributed to a student’s death, raising concerns about emergency response and infrastructure in the region.
