On February 21, 2026, Telangana’s Drugs Control Administration raided an unlicensed clinic in Shayampet village run by unqualified practitioner Racharla Prabhakar, seizing 30 types of medicines including antibiotics, steroids, and Tramadol injections valued at Rs 35,000.
The operation, based on credible tips, targeted the illegal sale of high-risk drugs that pose public health threats like antimicrobial resistance and severe side effects.
Officials emphasized violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, which can lead to up to five years in prison, and warned wholesalers and dealers to verify licenses before supplying drugs.
Samples were collected for analysis, and investigations continue.
The DCA urged the public to report illegal activities via toll-free number 1800-599-6969.
Additionally, 166 medical shops received show-cause notices for illegally selling habit-forming drugs without prescriptions or proper records.
