Brantford and Brant County won Ontario’s Age-Friendly Community Awards for improving life for older adults through better housing, transit, and safety.
Brantford and Brant County have been honored with Ontario Age-Friendly Community Awards for their efforts to enhance quality of life for residents of all ages, particularly older adults.
Recognized at a January conference, the municipalities were praised for advancements in housing, transportation, social programs, and community engagement.
Initiatives include expanded paved pathways, transit shelters, improved street lighting, pedestrian safety features, and affordable housing.
Brantford’s Health Aging Strategy, ongoing through 2027, supports safer streets and expanded transit, while both communities host free Seniors’ Month events.
Both have previously received recognition from the World Health Organization and Ontario’s Ministry of Seniors’ Affairs.
