Bangladesh reshuffles top military leadership on 22 February 2026, appointing new chiefs and ambassadors.
The Bangladesh Army has announced a major leadership reshuffle effective 22 February 2026, with Lt Gen Muhammad Mainur Rahman named Chief of General Staff, replacing the retiring Lt Gen Mizanur Rahman Shamim.
Maj Gen Mir Mushfiqur Rahman was promoted to lieutenant general and appointed Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division.
Lt Gen SM Kamrul Hassan was reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as ambassador.
Brig Gen Kaiser Rashid was appointed Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence.
