Westpac lowers NZ fixed home loan rates, offering lower long-term options amid inflation concerns.
Westpac has cut its three-, four-, and five-year fixed home loan rates in New Zealand, becoming the first major bank to do so after the Reserve Bank held the Official Cash Rate at 2.25%.
The three-year rate dropped to 4.99%, the four-year to 5.19%, and the five-year to 5.29%, with the four- and five-year rates now the lowest among major banks.
The move, effective February 23, aims to help borrowers lock in favorable rates ahead of expected future increases.
Analysts note shorter-term rates have fallen significantly from peaks, while longer-term rates offer stability amid inflation concerns.
