A transnational crime group linked to over 60 Houston burglaries is under investigation across multiple states.
Texas officials have linked over 60 burglaries in the Houston area to a transnational crime group believed to consist of South American nationals, some of whom overstayed legal visas.
The group, labeled a "complex criminal threat" by the FBI, targeted affluent neighborhoods using ladders, burner phones, rental cars, and surveillance tools to steal luxury items, with losses estimated at $500,000 to $650,000.
Christian Mauricio Rubio Pizarro, a Chilean national, was arrested after using a fraudulent Argentine ID to rent a vehicle tied to the crimes; the car was found abandoned with altered plates.
Similar patterns have been seen in New York, Florida, California, and Ohio, including a burglary at a Cincinnati Bengals player’s home.
West University Place police confirmed multiple break-ins and attempted break-ins since January 2025, all following the same method.
Authorities across multiple states are investigating the network.
