Texas Rangers infielder Cody Freeman, 25, will miss 4–6 weeks with a lower back fracture sustained in spring training, affecting his role ahead of the 2026 season opener.
Texas Rangers infielder Cody Freeman, 25, will miss 4 to 6 weeks due to a lower back fracture, manager Skip Schumaker announced on Saturday.
The injury, sustained during spring training, sidelines Freeman just weeks before the Rangers open the 2026 season on March 26 against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Freeman, expected to compete for a utility role, batted .228 with three home runs and 15 RBIs in 36 games last season.
Schumaker said Freeman is disappointed but remains part of the team’s long-term plans and will contribute after rehab.
The Rangers are adjusting their roster ahead of the season opener.
