A 34-year-old Lyft driver in Louisville, Yordan Diaz Vera, has been charged with first-degree sodomy, kidnapping, and menacing after allegedly assaulting a female passenger during a ride to a medical appointment on February 4.
Authorities say he showed her a gun, pulled over, exited the driver’s seat, and entered the backseat where he forced her into sexual acts.
The victim escaped and contacted police after being dropped off.
Diaz Vera, who entered the U.S. unlawfully in 2022 and obtained a work permit, was arrested the next day and now faces a federal immigration detainer.
Lyft has removed him from its platform and is cooperating with investigators.
