The IOC is investigating FIFA's Infantino over attending a Trump-hosted Gaza rebuilding event, fearing a breach of political neutrality rules.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will investigate FIFA President Gianni Infantino, an IOC member, over his attendance at a U.S. President Donald Trump-hosted event for the Board of Peace, which aims to rebuild Gaza.
IOC President Kirsty Coventry said she was unaware of Infantino’s role until reporters raised it and confirmed the organization will review whether his participation violated the Olympic Charter’s political neutrality rules.
Infantino signed a partnership agreement at the event that could provide $75 million in soccer funding for Gaza, including plans for stadiums and academies.
The investigation comes amid concerns about the intersection of sports and politics, especially with the 2026 World Cup co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
