India has expanded its rural women’s empowerment program, with over 10 crore women now part of self-help groups under the DAY-NRLM, according to Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
At a Hyderabad meeting, he announced new financial tools including an Individual Enterprise Loan System, the JanSamarth Portal, and a UPI Credit Line to boost access to credit.
A digital module was introduced to improve women’s banking and digital skills.
The government also pledged to achieve self-reliance in foodgrains, fruits, vegetables, and milk, aiming to support global food security.
An ₹8,000 crore fund was allocated for individual loans to help SHG women launch personal businesses, with a unified digital platform to streamline applications.
