At the 2026 India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Devika Rao, director of Devika Dance Theatre and a University of Leeds researcher, highlighted AI’s potential to enhance health through cultural practices like classical Indian dance, bhajans, and padams, particularly for dementia and Parkinson’s patients.
She discussed collaborations with the NHS UK, Arts Council, and DCMS, and expressed interest in linking India’s Ministry of Culture with UK heritage communities via AI.
The summit, the first global AI gathering hosted in the Global South, brought together over 110 countries and senior officials to promote human-centric AI aligned with equity, sustainability, and societal well-being.
