Dr. Ajay Joseph urged lifestyle changes to prevent heart disease at the Olympic Medical Center’s Feb. 21, 2026, heart health event.
On February 21, 2026, the Olympic Medical Center Foundation hosted its 19th annual Red, Set, Go heart health luncheon in Port Angeles, featuring Dr. Ajay Joseph, an interventional cardiologist and lifestyle medicine leader.
Joseph, who directs Oklahoma’s only comprehensive lifestyle medicine program, emphasized that 85% of chronic diseases stem from lifestyle factors and that sustainable changes in nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management can reduce heart attack risk by up to 90%.
His program, which includes cooking classes and counseling, has improved outcomes for diabetes, blood pressure, and weight.
He highlighted that while insurance increasingly covers prevention, the healthcare system still prioritizes treatment over long-term wellness.
