A delivery rider died in a hit-and-run in West Delhi after being struck by a speeding car driven by a 27-year-old contractor.
A 25-year-old delivery rider, Hem Shankar, died in a fatal accident early Saturday morning in West Delhi’s Subhash Nagar after being struck by a speeding Hyundai Verna driven by Mohit Kumar, a 27-year-old MCD contractor. The crash occurred around 3:26 a.m. near the Subhash Nagar Metro red light on Najafgarh Road. Eyewitnesses reported the car was traveling at high speed, hit the rider from behind, and attempted to flee before being stopped. Shankar, who worked for Zepto, was pronounced dead at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Police seized the vehicle, arrested Kumar, and filed an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining factors including speed, alcohol impairment, and the vehicle’s history.
