Azerbaijan approves 2026–2030 plan to upgrade water infrastructure in Nakhchivan.
Azerbaijan has approved a 2026–2030 national action plan to improve water resource management in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, following a presidential decree.
The plan focuses on upgrading water infrastructure, expanding clean drinking water access, and enhancing irrigation systems.
Key projects include constructing new water and sewage networks, rehabilitating treatment plants, drilling wells, and building new facilities in several settlements.
A commission established in 2020 will identify priority projects and coordinate implementation, with oversight from the Cabinet of Ministers and the Nakhchivan government.
The State Water Resources Agency must report annually to the President, while the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, and Nakhchivan’s Cabinet are tasked with securing funding.
