An arson attack occurred on February 20 in Derry’s Ballymagowan area when a wheelie bin was pushed against a home and set ablaze around 7:30 PM. No one was inside the property, and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service quickly extinguished the fire. Police are investigating, with no injuries reported, and have appealed for public information via 101, online, or anonymously through Crimestoppers. Detective Inspector Lizzie Ballentine confirmed ongoing inquiries, while Sinn Féin councillor Emma McGinley condemned the act, calling it dangerous and damaging to community safety. A separate fire was reported in Armagh on February 21.
