The U.S. launched a $250M defense manufacturing hub in Indiana to boost missile and ordnance production, create hundreds of jobs, and strengthen national security.
Officials broke ground on a 1,100-acre National Security Industrial Hub and Munitions Campus in Bloomfield, Indiana, on February 19, 2026, as part of the American Center for Manufacturing & Innovation (ACMI).
The site, adjacent to military facilities in Crane, will host shared manufacturing infrastructure for defense production, including solid rocket motors and ordnance.
Backed by a $75 million federal award and $175 million in private investment, the project aims to create hundreds of high-wage jobs, attract $600 million in private investment, and strengthen U.S. defense manufacturing.
Construction began in 2025, with initial operations expected in 2027.
