He was cremated the day before the service, which drew thousands at the Tsuglagkhang temple and was organized by the Tibetan Youth Congress.
Born in Lhasa in 1946, Choegyal fled Tibet after the 1959 Chinese invasion and dedicated his life to preserving Tibetan culture, religion, and political aspirations, serving as former president of the Tibetan Youth Congress and a member of the Tibetan parliament in exile.
His passing follows the deaths of two older brothers, with the Dalai Lama and his sister Jestun Pema still residing in Dharamshala.
