New Zealand recalls Zaroa NZ salami due to unsafe curing, no illnesses reported.
New Zealand Food Safety is recalling all batches of three salami products from Zaroa NZ due to inadequate safety controls during production, as the curing process lacks high-temperature cooking to kill harmful bacteria like Salmonella and E. coli.
The affected items—Delicaté Salami Pohutukawa Smoked Black Angus Beef (80g), Pure Black Salami, and another unspecified product—were sold only in select Auckland and Waipara retail stores and farmers’ markets, not supermarkets, and have been removed from shelves without export.
No illnesses have been reported.
Consumers are advised to stop eating the salami, return it for a refund, or dispose of it safely.
New Zealand Food Safety is working with Zaroa NZ to improve safety measures and urges the public to stay informed by subscribing to recall alerts.
