The McNeese women’s basketball team secured at least a share of their third Southland Conference title with a 60-53 win over UTRGV, extending their winning streak to 16 games and improving to 23-4 overall and 17-1 in conference play. Ty Sibley scored a career-high 26 points, including key stretches in the third and fourth quarters, helping overcome a halftime deficit and a late rally led by UTRGV’s Charlotte O’Keefe, who recorded 18 points, 18 rebounds, and 7 assists. The victory marks McNeese’s first Southland title since 2011 and comes in head coach Ayla Guzzardo’s first season. The Cowgirls will aim for an outright conference crown in their next game against Texas A&M Corpus-Christi.
