Jamie Felix, accused in a 2023 Winnipeg rooming house shooting that killed five, faces second-degree murder charges after his mother testified he sent threatening messages and struggled with addiction and mental health.
Jamie Felix’s mother testified at his 2026 trial that he sent her ominous Facebook messages after the Nov. 26, 2023, Winnipeg shooting that killed five people at a rooming house, saying he wasn’t going to be around long and planned to “go out to the fullest.” Felix, who pleaded not guilty to five counts of second-degree murder, was allegedly using crack cocaine and alcohol before the attack.
Prosecutors presented evidence linking him to the scene, including fingerprints and surveillance footage.
The victims—Crystal and Stephanie Beardy, Melelek Lesikel, Dylan Lavallee, and Shawn Marko—died from gunshot wounds; two at the scene, two in hospital, and one a year later.
Felix’s mother said he struggled with substance abuse, seizures, and mental health issues.
The trial, ongoing since February 2026, is expected to last four weeks.
