Indonesia approves Inpex’s Abadi LNG project, enabling next-phase development.
Inpex has received Indonesian environmental approval for its Abadi LNG project in the Masela Block, advancing it to the FEED phase.
The project, located 180 km southwest of the Tanimbar Islands, will produce about 9.5 million tonnes of LNG annually—over 10% of Japan’s yearly imports—along with condensate and pipeline gas.
It includes a carbon capture and storage component and is designated a national strategic infrastructure project.
Inpex, with a 65% stake, leads the development alongside Pertamina and Petronas.
Preparatory work will begin with coordination with Indonesian authorities and local communities.
