The Doors' Densmore and Krieger joined Playing for Change on a global "Riders on the Storm" remake, supporting indigenous music education and raising funds.
John Densmore and Robby Krieger of The Doors teamed with Playing for Change on a new version of "Riders on the Storm," featuring musicians from eight countries.
The track seamlessly integrates Jim Morrison’s original vocals, which matched the new recording’s tempo perfectly, according to producer Sebastian Robertson, who called it “clearly meant to be.” The video, filmed with Densmore and Krieger performing as they once did, supports indigenous music education in South Dakota, aligning with Densmore’s advocacy and Robertson’s Mohawk heritage.
The project has drawn over 2 million views and raised thousands for the Playing for Change Foundation.
Robertson hinted at a future project set “on a dark desert highway.”
