Dean Kamen resigned from BETA Technologies after DOJ documents revealed post-2008 contacts with Jeffrey Epstein.
Dean Kamen, a board member of BETA Technologies and inventor of the Segway, has resigned following the release of Department of Justice documents showing he corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein after Epstein’s 2008 conviction and visited his properties.
The SEC confirmed the resignation on February 19, 2026, with BETA stating Kamen stepped down to avoid distraction as the company advances production and awaits federal approval for cargo and medical flights.
Kamen, who held over 800,000 shares worth about $15 million, said he did nothing wrong but acknowledged the association could hinder the company.
BETA confirmed it had hired a law firm to investigate the connections and praised Kamen’s past contributions.
The disclosure comes amid criticism over the DOJ’s delayed release of Epstein-related records.
