A 20-year agreement between American Cruise Lines and Baton Rouge’s Metro Council will renovate the aging City Dock on the Mississippi River, with ACL investing $2 million and paying $4 per passenger annually. The project, expected to bring about 16,320 out-of-state cruise passengers yearly—mainly from California, Texas, and Florida—aims to generate $25 million in economic impact and boost downtown revitalization. The dock, last properly maintained over a decade ago, will see upgrades ahead of a fall grand welcome event following a soft opening with the “American Melody.”
