A 74-year-old man, Leonard Koch, died Wednesday morning after being rescued from a house fire on Western Hills Avenue in Cincinnati.
Fire crews arrived within four minutes of a police officer spotting smoke and found heavy flames on the first and second floors.
Koch was located on the first floor, taken to UC Medical Center in critical condition, and later died.
About 60 firefighters responded, with a second alarm sounded due to the fire’s rapid spread.
The cause remains under investigation, and the home suffered an estimated $180,000 in damage.
Two residents were displaced and received aid from the Red Cross.
