UP BJP MLA Nandkishore Gujjar defended a ceremony honoring Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak by batuks, a group of Brahmin students and community members, calling it a cultural gesture rooted in the traditional varna system based on occupation and spiritual role, not hereditary caste.
He stated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, having taken sannyasa, is considered a Brahmin under this framework, and praised Pathak as a leader of Sanatan Dharma.
Gujjar also demanded strict legal action, including the UAPA, against filmmakers accused of defaming the Yadav community, citing threats to internal security and potential unrest.
The event followed Pathak’s public criticism of police conduct during the Magh Mela.
