Texas Republican candidate Don Huffines bought Jeffrey Epstein’s New Mexico ranch to turn it into a Christian retreat, denying any connection to its controversial past.
Texas businessman Don Huffines, a Republican comptroller candidate, says he bought Jeffrey Epstein’s New Mexico ranch to convert it into a Christian retreat, calling the purchase a move to “bring light to darkness.” He bought the property years after Epstein’s death and before its auction, stating the transaction was unremarkable and not influenced by its controversial past.
The ranch, linked to secrecy and allegations including a 2019 email claiming two girls were buried nearby at Epstein’s and Ghislaine Maxwell’s direction, has prompted New Mexico Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard to call for an investigation.
Huffines said he assumed prior investigations were complete and pledged cooperation if new leads emerge.
The FBI has previously concluded Epstein was not running a widespread trafficking ring involving powerful men.
