Severe weather canceled school buses in parts of northern Ontario on Feb. 18, 2026, but schools stayed open.
School bus services were cancelled on February 18, 2026, in the Sault Ste.
Marie area, including Echo Bay, Bruce Mines, Desbarats, St. Joe Island, and Thessalon, due to severe weather, though schools remained open.
Cancellations also affected Manitoulin Island and Blind River, while service continued in Elliot Lake, Wawa, White River, Chapleau, Hornepayne, and most of Algoma.
Parents were urged to arrange alternative transportation.
Meanwhile, the Manitoulin Health Centre upgraded patient care with new IV Smart Pumps, and temporary waterflows began on Agnew Lake and the Spanish River to support dam repairs.
