Rod Wood, Detroit Lions team president and CEO, has announced his retirement ahead of the 2026 NFL season after 11 years leading the franchise.
He will remain until a successor is named, as a global search led by Russell Reynolds Associates begins.
Wood, who joined in 2015 after a finance career including a decade at Ford Estates, helped guide the team’s turnaround, including hiring key leaders and securing the 2024 NFL Draft for Detroit.
He expressed gratitude to the Ford family and fans, praising current leadership under Sheila Hamp, Brad Holmes, and head coach Dan Campbell.
The Lions confirmed the transition is underway.
