A London man, Gurwinder Singh, was convicted of rape and sexual offenses after luring a woman to a hotel by posing as a woman on WhatsApp.
Gurwinder Singh, 37, was convicted at Southwark Crown Court on February 18, 2026, of rape, attempted rape, and other sexual offenses after luring a woman to a London hotel by posing as a woman offering care work jobs via WhatsApp.
The victim, misled into believing she was helping an injured athlete, was assaulted after meeting Singh at the hotel, where he had booked the same room over 100 times between December 2024 and August 2025.
Police seized nine devices from his home, revealing a pattern of deceptive communications targeting women, likely from the Indian community in Hayes and Southall.
Authorities believe Singh may be a serial predator and are urging potential victims to come forward, emphasizing confidential and sensitive handling of reports.
He is set to be sentenced on April 15, 2026.
