A Lafayette firefighter had lawn tools stolen at gunpoint by a Black man in a black Honda Civic with a blue paper plate, police say.

A Lafayette firefighter reported his lawn equipment was stolen from his work trailer at Silkwood and Duclos while he was at a client’s home, and he was threatened at gunpoint by a suspect who fled in a black Honda Civic with a blue paper plate. The man, described as Black, took three Shindaiwa weed eaters, two with Darwin Grips, and drove through a ditch, possibly damaging the car’s passenger side door. Authorities have been notified, a police report filed, and the couple is urging the public to watch for the stolen tools being sold or pawned at low prices.
