Kings' stars Sabonis and LaVine out for season after surgeries, team on 14-game losing streak.
The Sacramento Kings announced that stars Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season after undergoing season-ending surgeries.
Sabonis, a three-time All-Star, had meniscus surgery after playing in 19 games, averaging 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
LaVine, a two-time All-Star, opted for hand tendon surgery, averaging 19.2 points in 39 games.
The Kings, at 12-44 and on a 14-game losing streak, are not tanking, coach Doug Christie said, emphasizing development for younger players.
Both players are among the team’s highest-paid, with Sabonis having $94 million left on his contract and LaVine holding a $48.9 million player option.
The team hosts the Orlando Magic on Thursday, with a 15th straight loss potentially setting a franchise record.
