India's Supreme Court granted bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and wife in a ₹30 crore fraud case, calling it a commercial dispute.
The Supreme Court of India has granted regular bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt in a ₹30 crore fraud case from Rajasthan, overturning a prior high court denial.
The case stems from allegations that the Bhatts misled Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF, into investing in a biopic about his late wife, with funds allegedly misused through fake bills and personal transfers.
The court, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, ruled the dispute was primarily commercial, not criminal, and directed both parties to pursue mediation.
The couple, arrested in December 2025, were released pending further proceedings.
