The European Union launched its first European Legal Gateway Office in New Delhi on February 18, 2026, to support Indian students, researchers, and ICT professionals in legally and safely accessing work, study, and research opportunities across all 27 EU member states.
The initiative, co-inaugurated by EU Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, operates through a physical office in India, a support office in the EU, and a digital platform serving as a one-stop hub for accurate mobility information.
It aims to strengthen talent exchange, boost European competitiveness, and deepen strategic ties between India and the EU, particularly in technology and digital cooperation.
