Payne previously played 31 games for the Sixers in 2023-24, averaging 9.3 points and 3.1 assists. He joins the team following the trades of Eric Gordon and Jared McCain, aiming to provide depth and reduce minutes for high-usage players like Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, who is sidelined with a shin soreness.
