Epstein and Maxwell used their ties to Interlochen Arts School to groom teens; school now enforces stricter rules.
Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell exploited their ties to Interlochen Center for the Arts, a Michigan arts school, to access and groom teenage girls in the 1990s and early 2000s, according to Department of Justice records and former officials.
Epstein, a former student and major donor, used a lodge he gifted to gain unsupervised access, offering financial support and gifts to manipulate vulnerable teens.
Despite the school’s policy against such contact, its open campus made enforcement difficult.
Epstein’s last donation was in 2003, and donor recognition was removed after his 2008 plea.
He was later arrested in 2019, died in custody, and Maxwell was convicted in 2021.
Interlochen has since tightened security and banned unsupervised interactions between students and outsiders.
