The City of Cornwall is evaluating two properties—330 Montreal Rd. and 224 Saunders Dr.—for a bridge housing project to combat homelessness, with public sessions scheduled for Feb. 24 and March 2. The 330 Montreal Rd. site, currently a police station in poor condition, is being considered for redevelopment, while the 12th Street East site is on hold. Each location could host up to 30 sleeper cabins offering short-term shelter under four months with support services. Initial costs are estimated at $2 million to $2.5 million. Council will decide on a site at an upcoming meeting, with city officials stressing transparency and community input.
