Australia Post halted its $5M uniform rollout after workers suffered sunburn and embarrassment from see-through, ineffective shirts.
Australia Post has paused its $5 million uniform rollout after workers reported severe sunburn and embarrassment due to see-through, SPF 50-rated high-vis polo shirts.
The shirts, introduced in January for tens of thousands of outdoor staff, were criticized for revealing undergarments, failing to block UV rays, and shrinking in the wash.
Despite concerns raised during an 18-month trial, the rollout continued.
Now, Australia Post has halted distribution, ordered staff to revert to old uniforms until at least March 30, and launched a safety review.
Union leaders warn the misstep could cost $25–30 million, and the company stressed worker safety is its top priority.
