A 20-year-old Saudi student was fatally stabbed in Cambridge in an unprovoked attack, prosecutors say.
A 20-year-old Saudi Arabian student, Mohammed Algasim, was fatally stabbed near Cambridge Railway Station on August 1, 2025, in an unprovoked attack, prosecutors said at Cambridge Crown Court on February 17, 2026.
Chas Corrigan, 22, denies murder, but evidence shows he approached Algasim after drinking and possibly using drugs, punched him, and stabbed him in the neck with a kitchen knife, causing fatal injuries.
CCTV footage and witness accounts support the prosecution’s claim that the attack was deliberate and unprovoked.
Corrigan’s defense argues he carried the knife for protection and believed he was under threat, claiming he intended only to deter Algasim without making contact.
The trial continues.
