The Supreme Court on February 17, 2026, rejected former IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi’s plea for discharge in the Obulapuram Mining scam, allowing her trial to continue.
The court upheld the Telangana High Court’s decision to reinstate charges after previously discharging her in 2022.
Srilakshmi, a former Andhra Pradesh secretary, faces allegations of misusing her position to favor businessman Gali Janardhan Reddy’s mining company by omitting a captive mining condition and issuing illegal notifications, violating mining laws and causing potential public losses.
She is charged under IPC sections 120B and 409, and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Reddy was convicted, and his appeal is pending.
